RBPF clarifies viral TikTok videos are fake

Following the circulation of videos on social media depicting officers of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) that were uploaded through two TikTok accounts and have been viewed by a large number of social media users, the RBPF on Friday clarified that the videos are fake and were generated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

RBPF in a statement also reminded the public to remain vigilant against similar videos that may circulate on other social media platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram, as well as messaging applications including WhatsApp and Telegram.

Members of the public are advised not to readily believe, disseminate or share such content, and to refer to the RBPF’s official channels for verified information.

For clarification or to verify suspicious content, the public may contact the Anti-Scam Helpline (ASH) at 16993.

Any related information can also be reported by calling 993, the police hotline.
