The Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) under the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) organised a religious-themed stage performance at the celebration stage in the parking area opposite the Royal Regalia Museum on Thursday evening as part of the 80th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
The programme provided officers and staff of the PDI to express their loyalty and devotion to His Majesty while contributing to the festive atmosphere of the national celebration.
The event began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar, Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam led by Saifullah bin Haji Mohd Sofian of the Persatuan Nurul Islam. This was followed by renditions of Selawat Tafrijiyah and Asmaul Husna by association members. A highlight of the event was a religious forum on ‘Journey in Search of the Truth: Why I Chose Islam’, where the panellists shared their personal journeys to Islam, recounting their lives before embracing the faith, the moments that inspired them to accept Islam, the challenges they encountered as converts, and the positive changes they have experienced through practising Islamic teachings.
The forum provided the audience with an understanding of Islam from the perspective of converts while fostering gratitude for the blessing of faith, strengthening the spirit of brotherhood, enhancing public understanding of the experiences of new converts, and highlighting the compassionate and merciful values of Islam.
The forum featured Persatuan Nurul Islam members Haji Adnan bin Musim, Mohammad Nasrul Budin bin Abdullah and Haji Mohd Hazwan bin Abdullah as panellists. It was moderated by Religious Officer Mohammad Nasyith bin Superi from the PDI. The programme also featured an interactive religious quiz with Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Awang Haji Ahmad, the guest of honour, presenting prizes to the winners.
The evening concluded with Acting Director of the PDI Haji Ahmad Abdussalam bin Haji Abd Rahman presenting a commemorative souvenir to the guest of honour. – Lyna Mohamad
