Retirement programme focuses on long-term well-being

Tabung Amanah Pekerja (TAP) conducted its two-day Lakastah Bersedia programme on September 29 and 30, 2026 at the Multaqa Hall, Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) with the programme aimed at raising awareness on the importance of making early preparations for retirement by focusing on key areas such as financial planning, healthcare, family and social well-being, health management, and estate planning.

The programme targeted individuals who are expected to retire within the next 10 to 15 years.

Through open communication, shared decision-making, and alignment of financial goals and lifestyle expectations, couples can play a significant role in enhancing retirement preparedness and long-term well-being. This collaborative approach is expected to strengthen the effectiveness and sustainability of retirement planning among participants.

Throughout the programme, participants were provided with practical guidance and knowledge through sharing sessions by various institutions.

The programme commenced with a financial and retirement planning session by TAP’s Retirement Services Unit. The participants were encouraged to establish retirement income goals and take early action to achieve their desired lifestyle in retirement.

TAP also encouraged its members to make voluntary contributions to their SPK Member Accounts as a way to strengthen their retirement savings. In addition, participants were advised to seek consultation services from accredited retirement planners TAPCERT®, to assist them in developing a more structured, realistic, and effective retirement plan.

The programme also featured presentations from several institutions, providing a holistic perspective on retirement preparedness.

A total of 50 participants, comprising officers and staff from MoRA and their spouses, attended the programme. The inclusion of spouses was a key element of the programme’s approach, recognising that retirement planning is more effective when undertaken jointly.
