The total road accident cases in Brunei Darussalam is showing an increase for the past 3 years. Road accident statistics revealed that as of June this year, 12 fatalities were recorded compared to 7 in the same period last year. In this regard, as part of efforts to curb the rising road accident trend and instil a sense of responsibility among road users, the National Road Safety Council, MKKJR will launch the National Road Safety Campaign with the theme 'Watch Your Speed, Watch The Road.'
The campaign aims to raise awareness on the road, and advise road users not to be careless, and obey speed limit. This was shared by the Deputy Permanent Secretary for Transport at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications at a press conference at the ministry, 20th August morning.
At the press conference, Awang Haji Mohammad Salihin bin Haji Aspar also shared statistics on accidents, road traffic violations, and compound fines.
