Members of the Tiong Hua community in Brunei-Muara described this year’s get-together ceremony with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, as especially meaningful after His Majesty graciously stopped by their booth to greet the community members during the annual celebration marking His Majesty’s 80th birthday.
The visit was met with smiles and heartfelt appreciation from community members, who regarded the opportunity to personally welcome His Majesty and members of the royal family as one of the highlights of the celebration.
The occasion once again reflected the close relationship between the monarch and the people of Brunei, regardless of race or background.
The Tiong Hua community expressed its gratitude to His Majesty for graciously visiting their booth before proceeding to cut the commemorative birthday cake presented by the people and residents of the Brunei-Muara District.
The Tiong Hua community has participated in the Brunei-Muara get-together ceremony every year, viewing it as an important annual platform that strengthens unity and reinforces the enduring bond between His Majesty and the citizens. – Lyna Mohamad
