Brunei Darussalam Central Bank, BDCB, reminded the public to be cautious following a financial scam activity circulating on social media. The scam involved videos and photos displaying stacks of Brunei banknotes, accompanied by claims that viewers can expect significant 'returns' by joining live sessions online.
The tactic was designed to mislead to public by creating a false impression of easy and guaranteed financial gains. BDCB reminded that no scheme can provide guaranteed money without effort, risk or a clear explanation. Scammers often misuse images and videos of Brunei currency to create a false sense of credibility and lure people into their schemes. The public are strongly urged not to share personal or financial details with suspicious accounts, and report scam activities to the relevant authorities.
