From a pilot Reading School Project to a growing school-wide reading culture, Amar Pahlawan Primary School (SRAP) marked another milestone in its literacy journey with its Literacy Day Celebration 2026, bringing books, creativity, and young readers into the heart of the school community.
Held under the theme ‘Book Characters’, the celebration brought together pupils and educators through activities aimed at fostering a love for reading, encouraging creativity, and strengthening engagement with books.
SRAP is one of the pilot schools selected to implement the Reading School Project in 2025.
The project aims to enhance pupils’ literacy levels while supporting the development of a strong reading culture both at school and at home.
Building on this initiative, SRAP has continued to develop its Reading Hub through a range of programmes and activities that encourage pupils to read regularly and engage meaningfully with books.
A key highlight of the celebration was the ‘Read and Relax’ activity, which brought pupils and teachers together to enjoy reading in a relaxed and engaging setting. The celebration also featured a Book Character Competition, giving pupils the opportunity to bring their favourite literary characters to life while showcasing their creativity, confidence, and enthusiasm for reading. Through its Reading Hub initiative, SRAP continues to organise Read and Relax sessions, reading activities, reading challenges, book-related programmes, and activities involving Reading Hub Ambassadors.
