Weather conditions across Brunei Darussalam are forecast to remain hot and slightly hazy through mid-August 2026, with minimal rainfall activity expected, particularly over inland areas, the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) stated. Daily maximum temperatures during this period are expected to range between 34 degrees Celsius (°C) and 36°C.
Brunei is currently experiencing the Southwest Monsoon, which typically persists until the end of September 2026.
Typhoon Dolphin, currently located over the Northwestern Pacific Ocean, is expected to draw atmospheric moisture away from the region towards the vicinity of the storm system. Consequently, drier weather conditions are expected to prevail over Borneo compared to the previous week, BDMD said.
As of Saturday, Excessive Hot Weather (EHW) has been recorded in Anggerek Desa, Bangar, and Labi.
Meanwhile, five other areas recorded Unusual Hot Weather (UHW), including Bandar Seri Begawan, Lumapas, Lakiun, Benutan, and Kuala Belait. Since August 6, 2026, no significant rainfall has been recorded at the Meteorological Observation Station at the Brunei International Airport.
To date, total rainfall recorded for August 2026 stands at 101.5 millimetres (mm), which is approximately 56 per cent lower than the normal monthly average of 231.5mm for August.
Members of the public are advised to remain vigilant and take precautions regarding the hot and dry weather conditions, which are expected to persist until the end of this week.
