Youth were urged to strengthen their spiritual well-being, cultivate good character and build a strong sense of identity to navigate the challenges of modern life during the Youth Talk Programme at the main prayer hall of Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Pekan Tutong as part of the mosque’s 60th anniversary celebration.
The talk ‘Hati Yang Hidup, Hidup Yang Bererti’ was delivered by lecturer at the School of Business and Economics, Universiti Brunei Darussalam Dr Haji Muhammad Iznan bin Haji Tarip, the invited speaker. Among the topics highlighted were spiritual well-being, purification of the heart, good morals and character.
Dr Haji Muhammad Iznan stressed the importance of young people remaining steadfast in their acts of worship and nurturing their hearts by strengthening their relationship with Allah the Almighty through regularly reading Al-Quran, performing zikir and selawat, and making daily supplications.
He also called on youth to develop their identity in facing life’s challenges, while cultivating vision and strong leadership qualities. Youth were also reminded to avoid laziness and negligence and not remain in their comfort zones.
With the rapid development of technology and digital platforms, he said social media should be used responsibly and for beneficial purposes.
He also emphasised the importance of maintaining Hablu Minallah (one’s relationship with Allah the Almighty) and Hablu Minannas (relationships with fellow human beings).
The programme began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Hazwan Nizam bin Ibrahim, followed by Al-Quran recitation by Abdul Quddus Hafiyuddin bin Haji Shaharol Annuar and its translation by Amir Hamzah bin Muhammad Faizul Azman.
Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan, the guest of honour, presented a token of appreciation to the invited speaker.
