The importance of nurturing a generation grounded in faith, knowledge, good deeds and noble character was emphasised in a special religious talk on ‘Membina Generasi Ummah yang Beriman, Berilmu, Beramal dan Beradab Mulia’ by Adjunct Lecturer at the Faculty of Usuluddin, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Professor Dr Ustaz Abdul Somad during the ‘Majlis Maulid Akbar’ at Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (BKISHHB) on Thursday.
Held in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration, the event was jointly organised by UNISSA and BKISHHB. It served as a platform to encourage appreciation of the Prophet’s (pbuh) life and teachings, while nurturing love and devotion towards Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
The gathering saw a mass Maghrib prayer led by Acting Secretary of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB), Department of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, Ministry of Religious Affairs Pengiran Ahmad Faris Ramadhani bin Pengiran Haji Sellahuddin.
The programme also featured a qasidah performance by Munsyid Kyrel Al-Gayauwi and Ahmad Muaiyyad Az-Zubair bin Haji Umar Abdul Hakim, accompanied by the Ad-Dhiyaul Lami’ As-Syarif Group and the Prisons Department.
The gathering concluded with a doa led by Professor Dr Ustaz Abdul Somad.
The ‘Majlis Maulid Akbar’ aimed to strengthen bonds of brotherhood within the community through religious knowledge sessions, Selawat, qasidah and congregational worship, while encouraging greater appreciation of the values exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in daily life.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Ahmad, and concurrently Director of BKISHHB, and Rector of UNISSA Associate Professor Dr Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani were also present.
