Temporary road closures for 66kV cable works

Motorists have been advised to exercise caution following temporary road closures at the Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge and Jalan Menteri Besar to facilitate works involving 66kV cables.

The Public Works Department (JKR) announced that cable installation works along the Temburong-bound lane of the Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge will be carried out from tomorrow, August 29, until September 15.

The affected stretch is between KM T20.6 and KM T16.6, with the closure remaining in place throughout the period until the works are completed.

A road diversion will be provided, and motorists have been urged to observe traffic signs and comply with the stipulated speed limit while travelling through the affected area.

Separately, a temporary half-lane closure will be implemented along Jalan Menteri Besar, heading towards the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, on August 30.

The closure, scheduled from 8.30am to noon, is required to facilitate the lifting of cable drums for the BPC 66kV cable project.

Road users travelling through the area have been advised to exercise extra caution and follow all traffic signs and speed restrictions.

The works form part of ongoing electricity infrastructure development involving the 66kV transmission network. The Menteri-Peradayan 66kV transmission system is a strategic project under the 12th National Development Plan aimed at connecting Temburong District directly to the country’s main electricity grid and improving the reliability and stability of electricity supply in the district.
