Ten youth advanced to the finals of the National Youth Al-Quran Recitation Competition 1448 Hijrah/2026 following the semi-final round involving 30 participants. The final round will be held at Digadong Hall, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), on October 1, 2026.
The MCYS, through the Department of Youth and Sports (JBS), held a certificate presentation ceremony for the semi-final participants at Dar Al-Intishar, Jerudong Sports Complex.
Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan, the guest of honour, presented the certificates. Director of Youth and Sports Hajah Umi Kalthum binti Haji Abdul Karim, the chairperson of the ceremony, delivered a welcoming speech, while Chairman of the Semi-Final Judges Committee Mohammad Ali Sabri bin Haji Yusof announced the competition results.
The ceremony concluded with closing prayers led by Muhammad ‘Arief Zuhairi Chia bin Abdullah Syihab.
Acting Deputy Director of Youth and Sports Haswandi bin Haji Osman was also present.
The semi-final round featured 15 male and 15 female participants showcasing their Al-Quran recitation skills. The participants were selected through the screening round from September 9 to 12, 2026, which attracted 107 participants nationwide, comprising 66 male and 41 female contestants.
The National Youth Al-Quran Recitation Competition represents one of the annual projects organised by the ministry since the 1980s and has nurtured numerous talented young male and female Al-Quran reciters who have gone on to compete at higher levels.
The competition also serves as a platform for youth nationwide to assess their abilities and performance in the recitation of Al-Quran.
