A three-metre-long python was safely captured by female personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) after it was found outside a house along Jalan Pasir Berakas, Bandar Seri Begawan, on Monday.
According to the FRD, a python measuring with a width of around 30 centimeters, was captured by personnel from the Women’s Operation Unit Fire Station using specialised equipment, namely a snare catcher.
The operation was led by ABKW 411 Sarina binti Asar, together with four other personnel. No injuries or accidents were reported.
In light of the incident, the FRD advises the public to remain vigilant and take the preventive measures namely ensure that doors and windows of homes or buildings are kept closed, particularly when leaving the premises, to prevent wild animals such as snakes, stray dogs, crocodiles and monkeys from entering, as well as to remember to maintain cleanliness and ensure that the surroundings of homes and buildings are kept tidy and organised to minimise the risk of wild animals entering the premises.
In addition, the public are also reminded to not approach, disturb or attempt to capture wild animals, as such actions may pose a danger and lead to unwanted incidents.
Members of the public are advised to immediately call the emergency hotline 995 if they encounter situations involving wild animals or any other emergency.
