Time passes, camaraderie endures

A total of 33 retired members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces’ Intake 116 recently gathered to celebrate the group’s 25th anniversary.

The reunion strengthened ties among former personnel while allowing them to revisit memories of their shared journey, which began on July 30, 2001.

Despite having followed different paths since leaving the armed forces, the gathering demonstrated the camaraderie and sense of fellowship that remain strong among the former servicemen.

The programme included welcoming remarks, a tahlil recitation dedicated to departed comrades, a commemorative photography session, a cake-cutting ceremony and dinner. A representative of Intake 116 expressed gratitude for the commitment and support shown by those who attended, saying the reunion was not only an opportunity to recall the past but also a testament to friendships built over more than two decades.

“Tonight’s gathering is not merely about recalling the past. Every member of Intake 116 is part of a family, bound by the strong friendship we have built over the past 25 years,” he said.

He hoped similar gatherings would be held annually to strengthen unity and maintain close ties among former comrades.

The reunion concluded with a shared commitment to preserve their long-standing friendships through future social and community activities.
