Trial against nurses accused of anti-Semitism delayed

The high-profile trial of two nurses accused of making anti-Semitic comments to an Israeli influencer has been delayed.
Ahmad Rashad Nadir, 28, and Sarah Abu Lebdeh, 27, have pleaded not guilty to being menacing and offensive when they allegedly said they would refuse to treat Israeli patients and threatened violence against them.
Abu Lebdeh also denies a charge that she threatened violence to a group

The pair's trial was to begin on Monday before the listing was vacated on Thursday morning.
It was noted a constitutional issue pertaining to the trial had been raised.
The court relisted the matter for a mention on November 19 in Parramatta.
It was not the first time the duo's trial has been pushed back.
Videos and any other recordings of the allegedly anti-Semitic conversation were initially banned from evidence, with lawyers for the pair arguing they were taken without their consent and amounted to an illegal invasion of privacy.
But the Court of Appeal overturned that decision, permitting the evidence to be used in the District Court trial.
The pair made the alleged threats on an online video chat platform in February, while they were working a night shift at southwest Sydney's Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital.

"You have no idea how many Israeli (sic) ... came to this hospital and ... I send them to (hell)," Nadir says in the video.
Nadir has previously apologised through his lawyer for his comments in the footage, which he described as a "big mistake".
Israeli national Max Ilinsky, popularly known as Max Veifer, recorded a video of his conversation with the nurses on the platform ChatRoulette in 2025.
The platform, known as Chatruletka in Israel, randomly matches people from across the world to facilitate conversations.
