Brunei Darussalam is currently in the Monsoon Transition phase, which will normally continue until November. At 5 in the morning, 19th October, Tropical Storm 'FENGSHEN' was detected in the Western Pacific Ocean, approximately 1,500km away from Brunei Darussalam and is forecasted to move North-westwards.
The Storm is expected to indirectly influence the weather in the country. Occasional heavy and gusty showers or thundershowers are expected, affecting mostly at sea and coastal areas. Wind gust of up to 45 kilometres per hour in or near heavy thundershowers. Meanwhile, over the Brunei waters, sea conditions are generally slight, with wave heights ranging between 0.5 metre and 1 metre and may increase temporarily to moderate state up to 2 metre during gusty showers. The public, including road users and mariners, are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure safety during active weather conditions.
