Two firms fined BND4,000 over illegal dumping offences

Two companies were issued compound offers totalling BND4,000 following an integrated enforcement operation conducted by the Brunei-Muara District Office on August 5.

The operation, Operasi Bersih Sepadu, was carried out by the Licensing and Enforcement Division of the Brunei-Muara District Office in collaboration with the Immigration and National Registration Department, Royal Customs and Excise Department, Department of Labour and Employment, and Town and Country Planning Department.

Each company was issued a BND2,000 compound offer under separate provisions of Section 12(1) of the Miscellaneous Act (Chapter 30) and given seven days to settle the compounds.

Failure to do so will result in the cases being referred to court under the Miscellaneous Act. Upon conviction, offenders may face a fine of up to BND30,000, imprisonment of up to 12 months, or both.

The Brunei-Muara District Office also urged the public to support enforcement efforts by reporting illegal dumping activities. Reports, accompanied by the location and photographs, may be submitted via WhatsApp.
