The Public Works Department, Ministry of Development yesterday in a public announcement has informed the public regarding the possibility of water supply disruptions and low water pressure which are likely to affect areas of the Mengkubau Water Treatment Plant.
The affected areas are Mengkubau SR Tank Catchment Area of Kampong Serdang, Kampong Sungai Matan, Kampong Sungai Bunga, Kampong Sungai Belukut, Kampong Mentiri, Kampong Perpindahan Mentiri, Kampong Sungai Buloh, Kampong Pudak, Kampong Sungai Besar and surrounding areas, Batu 12 Tank Catchment Area namely Kampong Mentiri, Kampong Sungai Buloh, Kampong Batu Marang, Kampong Salar, Kampong Tanah Jambu and surrounding areas, Batu 15 Tank Catchment Area of Kampong Kapok, Kampong Serasa, the entire Muara area, Pulau Muara Besar, Kampong Sabun, Kampong Tanjung Batu and surrounding areas.
Other affected areas are Sungai Buloh Tank Catchment Area, comprising the entire STKRJ Sungai Buloh area and surrounding areas; Sungai Bunga and Pulau Baru-Baru Tank Catchment Area of Kampong Sungai Bunga and Kampong Pulau Baru-Baru, PN Panchor Mengkubau ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘D’ Tank Catchment Area, namely the entire PN Mengkubau area, Jalan Paya Panchor, Jalan Tanjung Kudus, Jalan Bukit Bintagur, Jalan Bukit Sinadur and surrounding areas as well as Perpindahan Negara Mentiri Tank Catchment Area of the entire Perpindahan Negara Mentiri area and surrounding areas.
The department is currently working to optimise the treated water production at the Mengkubau Water Treatment Plant and efforts are underway to raise water levels in our catchment tanks to sufficient levels for water distribution.
Water supply is expected to recover gradually as water production and tank levels continue to improve.
The department is currently carrying out investigation works to identify the cause of disruption and have taken necessary action to assist some of the affected areas. Water supply is expected to be restored gradually as treated water production and catchment tanks levels increase.
Members of the public are strongly advised to practice prudent water usage during disruption period to expedite the stabilisation of water supply system.
In the meantime, residents in the affected areas may obtain water supply from the blue water tanks provided in several locations.
Blue tanks can be found at Kampong Kapok Mosque as well as car park areas of Pooman convenience shop, Kampong Kapok, Sungai Besar Mosque, Sungai Buloh Mosque, Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque, Kampong Mentiri, PN Mengkubau recreational park, Jalan Tanjung Selasih, children playground park near to Simpang 197 and the children playground park near to Simpang 60, Jalan Bukit Sinadur.
