A water transmission pipeline near Simpang 336, Jalan Kebangsaan had been damaged as a result of a landslide in the area, the Public Works Department (JKR) announced.
The areas affected include the Diplomatic Enclave, Islamic Da’wah Centre, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Simpang 396 Jalan Kebangsaan Lama, parts of Jalan Kebangsaan Lama, parts of Kampong Sungai Akar, Simpang 40 Kampong Sungai Akar, as well as Simpang 204-9-68 Kampong Sungai Akar and the surrounding area.
Following the incident, the department is conducting investigations in the area to identify the exact location and cause of the leak in the transmission pipe.
The department has carried out water diversion works to prevent water from flowing onto the road, which could pose a danger to road users.
Safety signs have also been placed in the area as a safety measure for road users.
Meanwhile, the department said residents in the affected areas may obtain water supply from blue water tanks provided at Masjid Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah in Kampong Sungai Akar, Simpang 204-9-68 Kampong Sungai Akar, Stella’s School Sungai Akar, and the parking lot of Sekolah PGGMB Sungai Akar.
Water tanker services are also provided to affected areas if needed. The public requiring water tanker services may submit a request via the Darussalam Line 123.
JKR said it will continue to monitor the situation and conduct investigations to identify the actual cause of the incident. Further updates will be provided from time to time.
