The Brunei Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB) held a welfare donation presentation yesterday as part of efforts to commemorate and enliven this year’s celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Organised by the association’s Religious Affairs and Welfare Committees, the ceremony was attended by PGGMB President Cikgu Haji Mustapa bin Haji Masri as the guest of honour, accompanied by members of the PGGMB Executive Committee, Religious Affairs Committee, Welfare Committee, and other PGGMB members.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a Doa Selamat led by Chairman of the PGGMB Religious Affairs Committee Pengiran Haji Hamzah bin Pengiran Haji Mohammad.
It proceeded with a special religious talk delivered by Director of the Centre for Jawi and Kitab Turath Studies at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Dr Ustaz Haji Muhammad Sharul Azmi bin Haji Abd Muluk titled ‘Nabi Muhammad SAW Suluh Aqidah’ (Prophet Muhammad, the Light of Faith).
The talk highlighted the importance of remembering and commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), while conveying the necessity of applying his teachings, practices, and Sunnah into daily life.
One of the event’s highlights included the handing out of welfare donations to 33 PGGMB members by the guest of honour as part of the association’s corporate social responsibility initiative.
The initiative aims to support and show care towards members during significant life events, including the loss of parents, parents-in-law, or children, as well as marriages involving members and their children.
The programme also featured a Selawat Badariah performance, the presentation of welfare donations and souvenirs, a Dikir performance, as well as the recitation of Doa Selamat and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam.
