Some 242 women entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) completed the ‘Enhancing Digital Economy Participation for ASEAN Women MSMEs (IDEAS) Project in Brunei Darussalam’ programme recently.
Director of Enterprise Development (DARe) at the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) Norlela Suhailee said, “The IDEAS Project has provided our entrepreneurs with valuable opportunities to strengthen their digital capabilities, gain greater exposure and build confidence in taking their businesses forward. More importantly, it demonstrates how regional collaboration can complement our national efforts in supporting MSMEs to grow, digitalise and formalise their businesses.”
Each cohort completed an intensive four-week training and mentoring programme covering business model development and innovation, customer development and fundraising, e-commerce, digital marketing, digital content development, privacy and cybersecurity, and women’s empowerment in the digital economy.
Organised by Big BWN Project, the ceremony was attended by representatives from the BEDB in its capacity as Brunei Darussalam’s focal point and representative to the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Chong Chin Yee was also in attendance.
