The Religious Affairs Section of the Scouts Association of Brunei Darussalam (PPNBD) organised a Speech Competition in conjunction with Ilal Hijrah 1448.
Held at the conference room on the fourth floor of the PPNBD Headquarters Building, it was officiated by Acting Director of Mosque Affairs, Department of Mosque Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Amir Hisyam bin Haji Masri.
Chief Commissioner of the Scouts Association of Brunei Darussalam Skip Haji Junaidi bin Haji Hussin, along with scout leaders, judges, contestants and other invited guests also attended.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by welcoming remarks from Headquarters Commissioner of the Religious Affairs Section, PPNBD, and Chairperson of the ceremony, Skip Haji Rosaimi bin Haji Othman.
Meanwhile, the speech competition began with a briefing for participants before contestants competed in the male and female categories.
For the male category, Muhammad Danial Haikal bin Muhammad Abdul Hafiz from Open Scout Troop 1111 emerged as champion, while Hazlam Syiblee Mundzir bin Nasrun Sumurhakim from the same troop was named runner-up and Syahminul Rahim bin Mohd Shahrin from Open Scout Troop Lamunin 2032 placed third.
In the female category, Nur Syahirah binti Syakirin from Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School Scout Troop 1106 emerged as champion, while Nur Batrisya Humaira’ binti Awang Mohammad Abu Hanafiah from the same troop was named runner-up.
Syazana Zafirah binti Zulrani from Arabic School Belait Scout Troop 3036 placed third, followed by Siti Sahara Aleesya binti Sajali from Majlis Kesejahteraan Masyarakat (MKM) Scout Troop 1123 in fourth place.
Fifth place went to Dk Nur Arisya Batrisyiah binti Pengiran Haji Md Saifiudin, also from MKM Scout Troop 1123, while Nur Syahidah Najwa binti Abdul Mutalip from Open Scout Troop 1111 placed sixth.
The event also featured a tausyeh performance by Aflahul Jinan Group, followed by a performance by the speech competition champion.
This was followed with the presentation of prizes to the winners by the guest of honour and tokens of appreciation for the judges and Aflahul Jinan Group.
The competition is hoped to further enliven the Ilal Hijrah 1448 celebrations among members of the Scouts movement, while fostering self-confidence, communication skills and appreciation of religious values and the spirit of Hijrah.
