Workshop enhances funeral management knowledge

Fulfilling the Fardhu Kifayah obligation of managing the deceased is a collective responsibility of the Muslim community, ensuring that the rites of the departed are carried out in accordance with Islamic teachings while earning rewards for those who undertake the duty.

With this in mind, Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque Kampong Sungai Kebun and Ar-Razaq Kifayah Management, in collaboration with the Mosque Affairs Department at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, organised the 30th Funeral Management Workshop on ‘Pakaian di Alam Barzakh’ at the mosque on Sunday.

The workshop aimed to enhance public understanding of Islamic funeral management while raising awareness of the importance of fulfilling the Fardhu Kifayah obligation within the community.

Acting Director of the Mosque Affairs Department Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri, the guest of honour, observed the proceedings and expressed support for efforts to strengthen public education in the field of funeral management.

Participants attended a series of theoretical and practical sessions covering various aspects of funeral management in accordance with Islamic principles. These included lectures on the fundamentals of funeral management, demonstrations on the proper procedures, hands-on training in washing, shrouding, and performing funeral prayers for the deceased, as well as a question-and-answer session that enabled participants to seek clarification on related matters. The workshop was also part of the ongoing efforts of Ar-Razaq Kifayah Management to expand public access to Fardhu Kifayah knowledge through a combination of classroom instruction and practical training.

Organisers expressed hope that participants would gain a clearer understanding of every stage of the funeral management process and develop the confidence to assist when called upon to fulfill this important communal obligation. – Lyna Mohamad
