Brunei Darussalam is committed to ensuring that biodiversity management and conservation are implemented effectively, not only for the national interest but also as contribution towards global efforts in addressing the biodiversity loss crises. This was shared during the opening ceremony of a Workshop on Drafting the National Biodiversity Policy Implementation Plan and Strategic Action Plan 2024 to 2030. Organised by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism through the Forestry Department, the event took place on 26th August morning at the ministry.
Dayang Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism also explained that proper and effective biodiversity management requires understanding and close collaboration from various parties. The 3-day workshop is joined by relevant parties in biodiversity management and conservation. It is part of a continuous initiative to ensure that biodiversity policy targets and actions can be implemented more effectively, in line with the national development goals.
