The closing ceremony of the four-session workshop on Dikir Syarafil Anam (Brunei Dikir) took place yesterday. Acting Director of Mosque Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri presented certificates to the participants.
Organised by the Kampong Perpindahan Mata-Mata Mosque Takmir Committee, in collaboration with the Imarah Division of the Mosque Affairs Department through the Brunei-Muara District Mosque Affairs Office Zone 2, the workshop was held at Kampong Perpindahan Mata-Mata Mosque in Gadong.
It aimed to strengthen the participants’ mastery of Brunei’s traditional Dikir Syarafil Anam. The workshop was also organised to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), while providing participants with an opportunity to learn and improve their mastery of Brunei Dikir melodies.
It also sought to promote Brunei Dikir as part of the country’s cultural heritage, while enhancing the quality of recitation in terms of fashahah (clarity and fluency), melody and vocal delivery.
The male participants learned Khairuman Tiga Serangkai and Badat Sa’adon (Si Japar), while the female participants learned Khairuman Tiga Serangkai and Alham Allah.
The workshop was facilitated by Brunei Dikir practitioners Haji Mahri bin Haji Metusin and Haji Asmat bin Haji Tuah from the Mosque Affairs Department.
Besides enhancing participants’ skills in Brunei Dikir, the workshop served as a platform to identify and nurture talent among takmir committee members, congregants and Muslimah. It also provided an opportunity for participants to strengthen ties among congregants and village residents, while fostering Islamic values, faith and unity within the community.
