Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna binti Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a sabda said that Brunei Darussalam has managed to reduce the number of traffic fatalities by 50 percent over the past decade. However, in recent years, Her Royal Highness stressed that there has been a rising trend in the number of accidents and fatalities which is very worrying, becoming the driving force to act more vigorously and proactively in addressing the situation.
Her Royal Highness as the Royal Patron of the National Road Safety Council, MKKJR, made the sabda during the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims 2025. The ceremony took place at Royal Berkshire Hall, Tarindak D' Polo, Jerudong, 13th November morning.
Upon arrival, Her Royal Highness was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications as Chairperson of MKKJR. The Minister of Transport and Infocommunications in his welcoming address touched on the MKKJR's efforts in targeting every main road in the country achieving a minimum of 3-stars or more.
Her Royal Highness in the sabda said that the MKKJR is an important platform to coordinate integrated, systematic and high-impact actions to achieve set targets, towards comprehensive road safety.
The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims provides an opportunity for the citizens and residents to look back on the collective responsibilities in making the country's roads safer.
