Young learners put Islamic knowledge to the test

The Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque Takmir Committee in Pekan Tutong, in collaboration with the Tutong District Mosque Affairs Office and the Imarah Division of the Department of Mosque Affairs, organised a Children’s Religious Quiz Competition for Al-Quran and Muqaddam class students at Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Pekan Tutong yesterday.

The competition was held as part of the mosque’s Diamond Jubilee celebration, aiming to enhance children’s religious knowledge and understanding through engaging learning activities suited to their age group.

Six teams from various mosques participated in the competition, comprising Al-Quran and Muqaddam class students aged between six and 12.

The quiz covered three main areas of Islamic knowledge: fiqh, tauhid and Islamic history.

Through the competition, participants tested their religious knowledge, sharpened their critical thinking skills, built self-confidence and fostered teamwork and healthy competition.

The competition also aimed to encourage children to pursue religious learning continuously while strengthening ties among participants, their instructors and mosque communities.

Acting Director of the Department of Mosque Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri, the guest of honour, presented prizes to the winners.

The takmir committee hopes that the competition has helped serve as a beneficial educational platform for the younger generation while further enlivening the mosque’s Diamond Jubilee celebration through activities centred on Islamic knowledge and values. – Daniel Lim
