A total of 24 participants, comprising children aged 12 and below, showcased their singing and fashion talents and skills in the Bintang Kecil and Children’s Fashion Show Competition held on July 28 evening at the Belait District’s Pentas Perayaan at Tudong Saji, Belait District.
Organised by the PERTIWI Association, the competition held in conjunction with the 80th Birthday Celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, aimed at providing a platform for young talents to shine on stage, while also further honing their confidence, talents, and skills.
The young talents competed in two separate competitions, with one focused on their singing talents and another centred on showcasing their ability to wow the crowd with their fashion sense.
Other highlights included a special performance led by the winner of last year’s Bintang Kecil competition, Mohammad Syahmi Lukman Hakim @ Farhan bin Abdullah, as well as a special dance performance led by the Mahkota Tari Group.
Muhammad Aidil Irfan bin Shahrul Nizam was placed first overall in the Bintang Kecil competition, followed by Nur Humairah Alaisha binti Rahiman and Muhammad Hasyiem Azmi bin Muhammad Haziq Zakwan in second and third place.
Meanwhile, the Children’s Fashion Show competition saw Nur Syafiqah Natasha binti Rahiman in first place, followed by Anang Muhammad Athar Rayyan bin Anang Abdul Rahman and Muhammad Arsyad Darwish bin Md Danial in second and third place.
Assistant Director of the Public Works Department in the Belait and Tutong Districts Fazidah binti Haji Awang Md Daud, the guest of honour, was welcomed by the association’s chairperson, Fatimah binti Tanji.
Legislative Council members Yang Berhormat Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Othman and Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann, penghulu mukim and village heads from across the Belait District, as well as PERTIWI association members also attended. – Daniel Lim
