Team AB and Team Y&C emerged champions in the men’s and women’s doubles categories at the Belait District Under-23 Badminton Doubles Championship 2026.
Organised by the Belait District Branch of the Youth and Sports Department (JBS), in collaboration with the Brunei Darussalam Badminton Association, the tournament was held from October 5 to 9 at Kampong Pandan Community Hall in Kuala Belait.
The championship saw 16 pairs compete in the men’s doubles category and five pairs in the women’s doubles category.
Participation was open to Belait District residents aged 23 and below.
Team AB clinched the men’s doubles title after defeating Skim JBS, who finished as runners-up. JBS KB and Skim Badminton Kuala Belait shared third place.
In the women’s doubles category, Team Y&C claimed the title after overcoming DX Official, who finished second.
CHMS A and CHMS B shared third place.
The finals were witnessed by Head of the JBS Belait District Branch Norulhoda binti Muhammad Iskandar, representing JBS Director Hajah Umi Kalthum binti Haji Abdul Karim.
The championship aimed to support long-term and sustainable sports development programmes in Belait District.
It also served as an initial platform to identify promising young badminton players and strengthen preparations for the Belait District contingent ahead of the Fifth Brunei Darussalam National Games 2026.
