Youth collect 440kg of waste during Serasa Beach plogging event

A total of 440.88 kilogrammes of waste and recyclable materials were collected by 45 youths during the Plogging Event: Belia Beraksi, Brunei Bersih held at Serasa Beach on Tuesday morning.

The event was organised by the Youth Committee of Tungku Pengiran Muda Abdul Malik Mosque, Ashabul Haliim, and aimed to promote environmental awareness while encouraging active and healthy lifestyles among young people.

The programme began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a briefing and warm-up session conducted by members of the mosque’s youth committee before participants set off on the plogging activity.

The initiative was organised in collaboration with matchalu.bn and supported by beveragesbywafi, reflecting a shared commitment between youth groups, community partners and local businesses to preserve the environment.

Throughout the activity, participants collected a combined total of 440.88kg of litter and recyclable materials from the beach area.

Besides promoting fitness through plogging – a combination of jogging and picking up litter – the programme sought to instil a greater sense of responsibility, environmental awareness and appreciation for cleanliness and sustainability among participants.

Carrying the theme ‘Belia Beraksi, Brunei Bersih’, the event demonstrated how collective community action can make a meaningful contribution towards a cleaner environment and a greener Brunei.
