Young people should not lose hope in the face of employment challenges, but instead strengthen their faith, develop their skills and explore alternative avenues such as entrepreneurship, said a religious preacher.
Certified Daie with the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) Dayang Hajah Siti Nurul Hazwani binti Haji Mohd Yussof highlighted the importance of resilience, self-development and maintaining a strong relationship with Allah the Almighty in navigating the challenges faced by today’s youth.
She made the remarks during a religious talk titled “Di Sebalik Ujian, Ada Harapan: Belia Siaga Masa Depan” (Behind Every Trial, There Is Hope: Youth Ready for the Future), delivered during the 38th Special Women’s Munajat Night organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The event, marking the 241st edition of the ministry’s Munajat programme, was held at Mushalla Al-Ameen.
She noted that securing permanent employment, whether in the public or private sector, remains among the challenges faced by young people today.
However, she stressed that they should not become discouraged or give up, as Allah’s blessings and opportunities are far greater than the trials they face.
Youth were encouraged to strengthen their relationship with Allah through worship, remembrance and prayer, while maintaining a positive outlook and recognising that employment opportunities extend beyond government and private-sector jobs to include self-employment and entrepreneurship.
She also urged young people to recognise their potential and continuously improve themselves through religious knowledge and practical skills.
Contributing actively to community activities and taking up part-time work while waiting for permanent employment were also encouraged as ways to gain valuable experience.
The knowledge, skills and experience gained, she said, would enable young people to contribute meaningfully to the nation and support the achievement of Wawasan Brunei 2035.
The special Munajat Night, held at the Islamic Dakwah Centre in Kampung Pulaie, brought together members of the Brunei Youth Council Working Committee, the National Mosque Youth Group Committee, Akhawatus Sofiyyah under the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ Youth Religious Programme, as well as members of the Youth and Women’s Youth Section of Temburong District mosques.
Women officers and staff at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, members of the public participating virtually from their homes, and congregants from several mosques nationwide also took part.
The programme began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah, led by Dayang Dalili Bazilah binti Haji Jailani, a member of the Brunei Youth Council’s Spirituality and Harmony Bureau Working Committee.
This was followed by a mass recitation of Surah Al-Mulk, led by Dayang Nur Afina binti Haji Adam, a member of the National Mosque Youth Group’s Networking and Strategic Cooperation Unit and the Youth and Women’s Youth Section of Temburong District mosques.
Doa Munajat was then recited by Dayang Nuramalnajihah @ Zulaikha binti Hanip, also from the Brunei Youth Council’s Spirituality and Harmony Bureau Working Committee.
Following the religious talk, Selawat Tafrijiyyah was led by Dayang Nur Afina binti Haji Adam, before the recitation of Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam by Dayang Tuty Haryati Agustina binti Haji Abu Bakar of Akhawatus Sofiyyah.
The weekly Munajat Night aims to encourage Muslims to strengthen their relationship with Allah through spiritual practices, seek forgiveness, recite and reflect upon the Holy Quran, and collectively offer prayers for the protection, peace and well-being of Brunei Darussalam and its people.
