Youth, as the future leaders and driving force of national development, have been urged to strengthen their faith, uphold good character and make meaningful use of their time.
The reminder was delivered during a religious talk titled “Youth: The Future of the Nation” by Mosque Affairs Officer and Zone 2 Monitoring Officer for Tutong District under the Mosque Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Awang Norafendi bin Norsabah.
The talk was presented during the 240th Malam Munajat programme on Saturday night, which was broadcast live from Pengiran Muda Abdul Wakeel Mosque in Kampong Kiudang, Tutong District.
Awang Norafendi said the future of any nation depends largely on its younger generation, encouraging youth to equip themselves with knowledge, integrity, strong moral values and unwavering faith while making the most of their formative years through beneficial pursuits and by strengthening their relationship with Allah the Almighty.
He emphasised the importance of consistently performing the five daily prayers, making the Holy Quran part of everyday life, and regularly engaging in zikir and supplication. He also highlighted honesty, trustworthiness, responsibility and respect for parents and elders as essential values in building a harmonious society.
He added that a truly developed nation is measured not only by its modern infrastructure or technological progress, but by the strength of its people, particularly young citizens who possess sound moral principles, patriotism and a strong sense of responsibility towards their community and country.
The programme was attended by members of the Takmir Committee, youth and congregants of Pengiran Muda Abdul Wakeel Mosque, together with participants from mosques and surau nationwide. Officers and staff of MoRA, as well as members of the public, also joined the event virtually from their homes.
The evening began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah, led by Mosque Affairs Officer for Tutong District Awang Haji Mohd Aidil Sofian bin Haji Mohd Yassin.
This was followed by the recitation of verses one to 10 of Surah Al-Kahfi, led by Awang Muhammad Azfar Syukri bin Azamri together with the mosque’s youth members. The Doa Munajat was then recited by the mosque’s Imam, Awang Abdul Raqib bin Haji Awang, before the religious talk.
The programme concluded with the collective recitation of Selawat Tafrijiyyah, led by Awang Mohammad ‘Ammar Zulqarnain bin Mohammad Azril, followed by the Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam, recited by Bilal trainee Awang Muhammad Ahwazul Aqil bin Haji Abd Rahman.
The weekly Malam Munajat programme aims to encourage Muslims to draw closer to Allah through acts of worship, seek His forgiveness, reflect on the teachings of the Holy Quran and collectively pray for Brunei Darussalam to remain protected from calamities and infectious diseases, while seeking continued peace, prosperity and well-being for the nation and its people. – Lyna Mohamad
