Islam encourages its Ummah to adorn themselves with trustworthiness. Trust is a significant, weighty responsibility that is hard to build and easily lost, not something to be taken lightly. Among the examples that can be associated with trust is trust at work, regardless if a person is self-employed, works in the public sector, or in the private sector. The Friday sermon stressed on 'Adorn Oneself with Trustworthiness.'
A person, specifically a civil servant, should strive to carry out their duties diligently and earnestly, with responsibility and commitment, without burdening others and completing the tasks assigned with trustworthiness and punctuality. Therefore, we need to practise trust in our work, including trust in the time and tasks given, trust in property, data that is entrusted to us, trust in procurement and finance, trust in managing conflicts of interest, trust in the service, trust in decision-making and many more. When trustworthiness is firmly rooted within ourselves, issues such as corruption, misconduct, evading of duties, negligence, poor quality work and carelessness will not arise. It is true that trust is widely considered the key to the success of the generation, companies, departments or ministries.
