Among the cruel acts is bullying. It is an act of repeated aggressive behaviour and is intended to hurt another individual, whether physically, mentally or emotionally. Symptoms of bullying can occur anywhere, whether at home, educational institutions, workplaces, streets, neighbourhoods, or even the virtual world. Therefore, Islam teaches us to stay away from and avoid bullying as well as to carry out our respective roles and responsibilities as children, parents, family members, teachers, students, friends, employers and colleagues to overcome and prevent bullying. This was among the content of the Friday Sermon titled 'Avoid Bullying: Nurture The Spirit Of Love And Compassion'.
Also shared were several steps that can be taken to deal with bullies and protect ourselves from bullying.
First: Share and tell parents, family members, teachers and trusted friends about what has happened. Do not keep this problem to yourself.
Second: Do not react with violence, even if you feel angry and frustrated. This will only make the situation worse. Instead, try to remain calm and walk away from the situation.
Third: Avoid risky places. Avoid going alone to places where we are often bullied. It is best to go with a friend or ask someone to supervise the area.
Fourth: Do not blame yourself. Do not let bullies make you feel inferior and depressed.
Fifth: Report to the authorities if the bullying continues.
