Modesty is an essential trait that we all must have. It is not a weakness but a shield that protects a person from committing what Allah the Almighty forbids. The Friday Sermon titled Modesty is the Shield of a Believer, shared several practices to cultivate modesty within ourselves.
First, increasing faith and piety. The stronger a person's faith, the greater their sense of modesty towards the Almighty and others. Second, maintaining good relationship with Allah the Almighty. Performing five daily prayers, reciting Al-Qur'an and zikir can help one feel closer to Allah and make modesty a shield of faith. Third, keeping one's company with those of good conduct. Good companionship influences a person's character. Friends who are pious help instil positive modesty. Fourth, realising that Allah the Almighty is all-seeing. Everything we do is observed by Allah the Almighty. This awareness helps us avoid wrongdoing and sinful acts.
