KUCHING (Dec 18): The newly-revamped federal Cabinet should place strong emphasis on addressing issues that directly affect ordinary Malaysians, particularly the rising cost of living, said Datuk Peter Minos.
The political observer said escalating prices of goods and services have made daily life increasingly challenging for many households.
“It has been very tough for ordinary Malaysians facing high and rising costs of goods and services. Malaysians have been complaining and bemoaning. I go shopping and I know how it hurts my wallet,” he said in a statement.
Beyond economic pressures, Minos said the new Cabinet should also focus on improving the quality of the national education system, including strengthening English proficiency and enhancing the analytical skills of graduates.
In this regard, he suggested Sarawak’s education approach could serve as a useful reference.
“It is sad to see that graduates lack quality and are not analytical enough,” he added.
He further urged the government to take firm steps to reduce extreme racial and religious sentiments, particularly in Peninsular Malaysia, warning that such issues could hinder national progress if left unaddressed.
Calling for greater unity within the administration, Minos said Cabinet members should work collectively and avoid internal disputes, as the public expects a cohesive and stable government that focuses on delivering results.
“The people want to see the Cabinet act as one and concentrate on solving real problems affecting their daily lives,” he added.
