KUCHING (Feb 6): The Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) has reported a break-in and theft at the electrical control room of the Taman Hussein Pedestrian Bridge, disrupting the bridge’s decorative lighting system.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Friday, DBKU said the incident involved suspects breaking and drilling through the wall of the control room, with electrical equipment inside the facility subsequently damaged and stolen.
“As a result of the incident, the decorative lighting system at the pedestrian bridge is no longer functioning, affecting public safety, public amenities and the aesthetic appeal of the city,” it said.
Expressing regret over the incident, DBKU stressed that public property belongs to the community and safeguarding it is a shared responsibility to ensure the well-being and comfort of all.
