KUCHING (Jan 18): A total of 105 pupils from four primary schools in Kampung Segedup have received assistance under the Back-to-School Pack 2026 programme.
Deputy Minister of Utility (Sarawak Energy Berhad and Petros) Datuk Ibrahim Baki was present at the handover ceremony, held at the compound of Masjid Darul Aqsa, Kampung Segedup here yesterday.
Ibrahim said the programme, which began in 2014, has been consistently implemented to support and motivate schoolchildren from underprivileged families.
“The objective of this programme is to provide assistance to Primary One to Primary Six pupils to motivate them to attend school and strive in their studies,” he told reporters after the ceremony.
“At the same time, it helps ease the financial burden on their families,” he said, adding that many children have been able to continue their education successfully since the programme was introduced.
The Satok assemblyman expressed confidence that the beneficiaries would not only excel academically but also grow into individuals with strong moral values.
“We hope to instill enthusiasm and provide encouragement and motivation to our children, so that one day they will become knowledgeable individuals with good character who can contribute to nation-building,” he said.
He also stressed that education remains a key priority for Sarawak, noting that the state leadership, including the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, has continuously implemented programmes centred on education and science.
The programme was organised by Kelab Sukan Komuniti Satok (KSK Satok) in collaboration with the N8 Satok Service Centre.
Also present were PBB Segedup branch chief Cr Samsudin Saperi; and KSK Satok chairman Irwan Zulkarnain Mohamad Hasbie.
