KUCHING (Dec 20): In the spirit of Christmas, the Satok Service Centre, in collaboration with the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Satok Branch, distributed Christmas cookies to residents in Satok here.
Deputy Minister of Utility (Sarawak Energy Berhad and Petros) Dato Ibrahim Baki, who is also the Satok assemblyman, said the initiative has been carried out for more than 10 years.
“It has become a common practice for us in Satok to celebrate together with the local community every year by distributing goodies for festive occasions such as Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Chinese New Year,” he said when met by reporters on Saturday.
More than 100 packs of Christmas cookies were distributed to residents at Thompson Corner.
Ibrahim said the initiative reflects the strong sense of unity and harmony among the area’s diverse community.
“It does not matter what culture or race—young or old—we celebrate together. For me, this brings great joy and happiness, as our citizens, especially in Satok, are able to live happily in harmony, united in diversity,” he said.
He also expressed hope that the community would continue to uphold close relationships, unity and mutual understanding among one another.
“I would like to wish everyone who is celebrating Christmas a happy celebration. May you have all the happiness in the world,” he added.
