MIRI (Jan 17): One primary school in Merapok, Lawas remains affected by flooding, although the overall situation in the area is under control.
This was observed by the Lawas team of the Civil Defence Force (APM) today.
According to a statement on its official Facebook page, APM Lawas said the monitoring covered several flood-prone locations including SK Ulu Merapok, Kampung Sasa Ulu Merapok, Kampung Languban and Kampung Petarikan.
“Monitoring indicates that the situation was under control, with the floodwater levels showing a gradual receding trend.
“Weather conditions were fair, with no rainfall recorded at all monitored locations.
“However, SK Ulu Merapok remains affected by flooding,” it said.
“Nonetheless, the situation is manageable and no PPS (temporary evacuation centres) has been activated.
“The residents in flood-prone locations are advised to remain vigilant, stay alert in weather conditions and immediately inform the authorities should there be any increase in water levels,” added APM Lawas.
It also assured that the safety of its personnel was well-maintained and that logistics remained in good and secure condition.
“APM Lawas will continue to stay on standby and is committed to ensuring the safety of the community at all times.”
