KOTA KINABALU (Dec 31): Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun (Dr) Musa Aman has called on the state government to remain steadfast in pursuing sustained and inclusive socio-economic development as the state steps into the New Year with renewed hope and resolve.
In his New Year message, Tun Musa said the beginning of a new year is a meaningful time for reflection, to take stock of achievements and challenges, while setting fresh plans and resolutions for a better year ahead.
He urged the government to continue strengthening infrastructure, addressing long-standing issues, and further enhancing the welfare and quality of life of the people of Sabah.
“At the same time, Sabah must continue to attract quality investments and create a conducive environment for growth,” he said, stressing the importance of intensifying development in key sectors such as manufacturing, tourism and agriculture.
According to him, these sectors are crucial in generating employment opportunities, strengthening the state’s economy and ensuring long-term prosperity for Sabah.
Tun Musa also underscored the importance of unity, describing it as Sabah’s greatest strength. He said the state’s rich religious and ethnic diversity is a blessing that must be cherished and protected.
In this spirit, he called on those who are more fortunate to extend a helping hand to the vulnerable and less privileged within the community.
He also expressed his deepest appreciation to members of the security forces, who continue to make sacrifices in safeguarding the state and the nation, often while being away from their families.
“Their dedication and service in upholding security and sovereignty will always be remembered and honoured,” he said.
Tun Musa expressed hope that the New Year would bring continued progress, prosperity, peace and harmony to Malaysia as a whole, and to Sabah in particular.
“With collective effort, wisdom and unity of purpose, I am confident that we can move forward together towards a brighter future,” he said, extending his New Year greetings and best wishes to all Sabahans.
