KOTA KINABALU (Dec 19): The body of a man was found at the Chancellor Hall of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) here on Thursday.
Kota Kinabalu police chief ACP Kasim Muda said the initial investigation revealed the 23-year-old victim fell while carrying out maintenance work in the area on Wednesday evening.
“Police received information of the discovery of an unconscious man lying on the stage in the Chancellor Hall by two maintenance workers who were on duty in the area.
“Based on a review of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage in the Chancellor Hall, the victim was seen falling at 6.09pm on Dec 17. However, no one witnessed the incident,” Kasim said in a statement.
Medical officers from the Likas Women and Children’s Hospital confirmed that the victim died at the scene.
External examination found no suspicious injuries other than the effects of the fall, said Kasim.
The Sabah IPK Forensic Team was also at the location to conduct further examinations, he said.
Kasim said the investigation found no criminal elements involved and the case has been classified as sudden death.
He also advised the public not to make any speculation that could interfere with the investigation process.
