UBD Students Attend CASFUMAL '10

Bandar Seri Begawan - To equip and nurture individuals with a range of insightful leadership practices and advances as well as interact with prominent industry/business leaders, two students from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) will be attending the Career Summit for Future Leaders (CASFUMAL `10) today at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The two students are Mohammad Hilmy Baihaqy Hj Awg Yussof and Ak Hj Ahmad Fadillah Akhbar bin Pg Hj Sallehudin. Both students represent UBD based on merit after being extensively considered by the university's senior management team, according to Mohamad Hilmy.

"The discussion will present us the opportunity to exchange ideas and also learn about the conventions and values of entrepreneurship", he said. Mohamad Hilmy's credentials included being a leader of youth programmes for the BASMIDA, an anti-drug agency. Ak Hj Ahmad Fadillah was previously in charge of regional youth advocacy for humanitarian affairs under the United Nations banner at a conference for youths at Bangkok recently.

UBD will be the sole Brunei representative in the event which also sees the participation of 12 other top universities mostly in Malaysia and in the Asian region. The main aim of the career summit is to equip youths with the necessary soft skills in business planning and to produce better leaders and professionals for the future.

Among the key government officials, business leaders from established private companies were Dr Mahathir Mohd, ex-Prime Minister of Malaysia, as one of the key guest speakers. CASFUMAL is considered as one of the largest events in terms of size and significance specifically targeted for students. Officiated by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Malaysian Prime Minister, the summit will take place today and tomorrow at the Pan Pacific KLIA Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

The career summit is organised and supported by Universiti Teknologi Petronas in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Malaysia. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
