KUCHING (Dec 12): Blessed Sacrament Church, BDC here has received an RM240,000 grant from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor).
The allocation will go towards improving the church’s facilities and providing a safer, more conducive environment for the congregation.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap presented the funds to church representative Pauline Lim.
Yap said the allocation through Unifor showed Sarawak continues to stand out as a model of genuine social inclusivity, not merely in words but through real, tangible actions.
“Sarawak continues to show the way. We are living proof through its actions, not slogans that social inclusivity is the foundation of unity, stability, and progress.
“Our government supports all faith communities because we believe that no one should ever be left behind,” the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kota Sentosa chairman said in a statement.
He pointed out the commitment is made possible through Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, whose policies have strengthened religious harmony, community development, and equitable growth across the state.
“Under the Premier’s leadership, Sarawak has built a governance culture rooted in respect, fairness and inclusivity. This is why Sarawak remains peaceful and united while continuing to progress rapidly,” he said.
Yap stressed that unity remains essential as Sarawak moves forward under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which aims to elevate the state’s economy, improve infrastructure, and ensure shared prosperity for all Sarawakians.
“To achieve the goals of PCDS 2030, Sarawak must remain united. Only through unity can we continue to develop faster, build stronger communities, and deliver real improvements to the lives of our people,” he said.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to work closely with community leaders, religious organisations, and local stakeholders to ensure that development assistance continues to reach all corners of Kota Sentosa and the wider Kuching community.
