The Ministry of Health strives to ensure prudent spending and a more effective cost management to create a resilient future health system. However, rising costs are still unavoidable, considering the rising cost of healthcare with more sophisticated medicines and medical equipment as well as the increasing number of patients with chronic diseases. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health shared the matter while chairing the Muzakarah or discussion session between the Ministry of Health and Members of the Legislative Council. The session was held on 25th November morning at the Epidemic Intelligence and Response Unit in Kampung Jerudong.
According to the Minister of Health, the ministry will also focus on prevention and early detection measures to ensure that long-term cost increases can be controlled. This includes prevention and health awareness campaigns through health promotion programmes, vaccination programmes, and early screening programmes for non-communicable diseases.
The session included a dialogue to share ideas, information, views, and proposals that can benefit the Ministry of Health in its efforts to further improve healthcare service quality for the citizens and residents' well-being.
