Offences Under The Price Control Act

Ethical business practices are the foundation in building consumer confidence and creating a fair business environment. The reminder was emphasised following the issuance of 20 compounds by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, Ministry of Finance and Economy, over the past nine months under the Price Control Act, Chapter 142.

The most common offence recorded between July 2025 and March 2026 were under Section 3B, involving the sale of goods above the maximum controlled price, particularly cooking oil.

Offences under the Price Display Order include failure to display price tags on goods sold within business premises, as well as displaying price tags that are inconsistent with the prices in the payment system.

For offences under Section 3B, involving the sale of goods above the maximum price and charges set, several companies were fined BND500, BND700, and BND1,000.

Meanwhile, for offences under Section 5, involving violations of the Price Display Order, several companies were also fined BND500, BND700, and BND1,000.
