A local woman was charged before the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court on 30th April under the Excise Order 2006.
63-year-old FATIMAH BINTI HAJI MOHAMMAD, was found guilty of possessing 21 cartons and 5 packets of cigarettes of various brands. The accused was sentenced to a fine of BND21,100 or 13 months imprisonment in default. The arrest was made by the Customs Prevention Officer, Bandar Seri Begawan Branch, Royal Customs and Excise Department, at a house in the STKRJ Tanah Jambu area on 23rd November 2023. All contrabands namely cigarettes and cash amounting BND10, were seized for destroying.
