The Halal Food Control Division, Syariah Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs received a complaint regarding the sale of Yueyou brand brushes at one of the supermarkets in the country which are suspected to be made out of pig bristles. The result of the analysis conducted by the Scientific Services Department, Ministry of Health confirmed that the Yueyou brand brushes are found to be made out of pig bristles.
To safeguard the welfare of the Muslim community in the country, the Syariah Affairs Department ordered the business owner to immediately separate the Yueyou brand brushes from other products and only sell them in the non-halal section. The Ministry of Religious Affairs also reminds entrepreneurs, traders, suppliers and importers to be more vigilant and more sensitive to imported used products and goods marketed to the public, to ensure that all products sold are pure, clean and not mixed with non-halal products.
