The Makan Tahun has a very deep meaning in community life, as it symbolizes a sense of gratitude, a spirit of unity and close family ties among village residents. The Makan Tahun Pantai Siandang was held in Kampung Jerudong, 6th June morning.
It was organised by the Kampung Jerudong 'B' Consultative Council in collaboration with the Kampung Jerudong 'A' Consultative Council and the Kampung Jerudong Kedayan Heritage Association and supported by the Brunei Muara District Office.
Present was Awang Haji Afif Daraina bin Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Badaruddin, Pemangku Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Among the things most synonymous with the Makan Tahun was the preparation of traditional foods such as kelupis, wajid, lapat, lamban, dalamu, sumboi-sumboi and various types of village cuisine inherited from previous generations. The event at Siandang Beach, Kampung Jerudong will be held until the 7th of June 2026.
