His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on 20th October afternoon, received in audience His Excellency Thongsavan Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, who is in the country for a three-day official visit. The Audience Ceremony was held at Istana Nurul Iman. Accompanying His Excellency was His Excellency Heuankeo Sangsomsak, Ambassador Extraordinary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic of Brunei Darussalam. Also present were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohammad Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Dato Seri Paduka Awang Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office. Brunei Darussalam and the Lao People's Democratic Republic elevated cooperation to Strategic Partnership during the State Visit of His Majesty to Laos in 2023. Both countries have achieved good progress through cooperation in the fields of education and people-to-people exchanges, as well as continue to strengthen trade cooperation, particularly in the agricultural sector.
His Majesty received in audience His Excellency Thongsavan Phomvihane. His Excellency's visit is aimed at further strengthening cooperation as well as explore new opportunities to work together in areas of mutual benefit to Brunei Darussalam and the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
